can't bind or insert xref

Anonymous

I use autocad 2014 student version. can't bind or insert xref into the current drawing. The command line shows that "xref file is currently not found. reload or detach before binding".

I reload the xref, but shows up with the same hint,

Is it a function limit of the student version or something else is wrong? Thanks

Hi @Anonymous!

That could means that one of the other XREFs is referencing it. You need to go into the XREF file that has it as a reference and bind or detach the from there. Save the file and the reload it in the base file. You should be able to bind it.

I attached this link so that you can check information about linking external references:

Was the file previously attached and then erased??

Is it nested in another file??

Is it nested in another file where it has been attached and then erased??

Hi @Anonymous,

When you open your External References Manager palette and select the XREF, it will show the saved path. Check to make sure the file exists in this location. If it doesn't go to the Details section and click on Saved Path. At the right there is an ellipsis. Click it and navigate to where the file now exists.
