You are the only one who's working in this files?

Restart Acad

Make sure no of these files are open on your PC (no one has one of the files opened)

Try it again.

The message is, one or more files open now..

@georaylin ,

  • Provide us your ABOUT [type it in the command line] information and make sure to have the latest updates.

  • Are you seeing a lock icon [Red] in the AutoCAD document (drawing) tab which indicates that the .DWG file in the given tab is open in "read-only" mode?

Or an asterisk [Green] which means changes have been made since the last save?

         ValentinWSP_0-1699000954725.png

After saving your drawing(s), use the instructions from here,

make sure to uncheck "Publish in background":

Also, consider resetting your profile to default:

As last option, you may need to Reset:

Hi Valentino, it is asterisk [Green]

Asterisk:

Really, directly after you open it?

OPEN, file selection, [Open]

and now, directly / without a mouse move or any key press, you can see the asterisk in the newly open drawing tab?

If so, there is a user customization that changes the file when opened.

After open the file, without a mouse move or any key press, type in

Command: ERRNO

What value is errno set to?

_ _ _

Okay: You are the only one, but I miss the answer to the test I suggested.

Make sure no of these files are open on your PC (no one has one of the files opened)

Restart Acad

Start Publish

select your files/layouts you want to publish

test it..

On a standardinstallation of AutoCAD or LT, there shouldn't be an asterisk after open, after save, qsave or saveas.

If there is one, directly after one of these commands, check out the errno number

Are you publishing in background? Turn it off and test it again:

OPTIONS PLOT and PUBLISH, background plot /publish setting

or variable BACKGROUNDPLOT make sure it is set to 0 (prefered) or 1

_

And again: You didn't my suggested test, or you forgot to tell us about the results 😉

Create a new file, just one circle, set up the pagesetup - save the file circletest.dwg.

Restart Acad, open a new file, start publish and add the circletest.dwg sheet and remove the sheets of the current file.

publish...

Does it work?

Oh, it did publish when i turned off the publishing in the background. but why is that? perhaps you have a way of solving this?

Not too sure what you meant by this sentance "And again: You didn't my suggested test, or you forgot to tell us about the results"

Hi,

>>"Oh, it did publish when i turned off the publishing in the background."

Cool, we are one step further now.

>>"but why is that?"

I don't know, we have to recherche or test it.

>>"perhaps you have a way of solving this?"

I don't know the problem, so I can not solve it, we have to recherche or do some tests first.

First Test: Is it the same with this file:

Start command: _.NEW

Right of [open] Button, select imperial or metric WITHOUT template,

draw a circle and setup the pagesetup. Try it with this file the same way you did it before (with backgroundplot for publishing  on)

Same issue?

BTW: Why are you using backgroundplot/publish ?

It drives me crazy that I have to wait so long and that I can't print anything else in that time, so i turn it off for plot and publish.

Like to know why you are using the background option.

You never wrote that you tested it this way, so it is possible that you always opend one of the files
which are in your publish sheet-list. You never explained how exactely your situation is,
so I suggested this test to make sure that you are not inside these files.

@georaylin Restart your PC.

Try again after you move all of your DWG files from your cloud service location or thumbdrive to your PC.

Ask your IT person to help as well: you have a system level issue we cant help you with around here, sorry.

If you still have a problem, here is how to open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek out Autodesk Support's help:

Hi Cadffm, appreciate your reply. BTW I've tried this, Start command: _.NEW, and publish with background, but still doesn't work.

By restarting Acad, you mean you have other ways to restart acad other than the old-fashioned closed and open way? the file is an individual dwg file without linking to any other platforms so no one could access the dwg file, e.g. the new circle dwg file. but even the dwg file is linked to other platforms, from my experience of batch plotting with background this hasn't occurred any issue before, not until now.

I don't have a special reason for batchplotting with background, it's just how I was taught to use this function. but thanks for letting me know the newer way. you said it's slower than without plotting with background? haven't try it yet.

@georaylin A DSD file can't be created, loaded or initiate a Publish if drawings being called are not saved.

So either you either you SAVE all the drawings you modified and re-iniate your publish command.

OR

You delete that DSD file that was created for that task.  Simple as that
