Cad File into Adobe After Effects

Cad File into Adobe After Effects

Hi,

I have drone footage of my site and I want to import my cad base into Adobe After Effects so I can align the two and create a video.

I know this is possible as a I have a sample I am trying to replicate, but I don't know the in-between steps.

Do I need to convert to a different format. Sure I could make it a PDF, and bring it in, but I only need the strings, and not the background that will come through underneath as a single Image.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ash

Hi,

>> Do I need to convert to a different format. <<

i suggest to make an Adobe plotter from  File > plotter manager (see below image). then start to prepare your eps files by PLOT command  and using the new adobe plotter (post script) that can be inserted to your Adobe.

Hi @Anonymous,

If my old Adobe Illustrator works in a similar manner to After Effects, it can open a DWG file without issue.  If this is not the case then a postscript plot is a good solution or you might even explore an EPSOUT.
