Blocks changing when copied to new file

When I copy a file with blocks into another file, some blocks in the change orientation and other blocks change completely.  I'm not getting a notification to address/over-write/redifine any "block definitions".  Any ideas?

Really no message?

Paste your blocks and press [F2]

The information is: There are blocks with the same name,

so you just copying the blockreference (not the Block definitions)

and the blockreference refering to the blocks with the same name in your target file.
