Best Practice In AutoCAD 3D Template Setup

AutoCAD 2025 / Windows 11 Pro.

Hello folks,

Am sure I am setting my 3D drafting wrongly.

What's the best practice in setting up a 3D project?

Please see attached video on what I mean.

1. When I zoom in to the corner, the lines 'disappears.

2. The mouse wheel forward zooms too much; the lines 'disappear.

3. When I zoom too close, like in the end of the video, the background color changes.

try from Graphicsconfig command to disable hardware acceleration.

Thanks for the reply. 

I turned off Hardware Acceleration, still the same. The zooms to the corer of the object are way too excessive that I lose the lines.

By the way, I thought there would be a dedicated section for AutoCAD 3D.

Please type in the command "PERSPECTIVE", set it to "0" and see if it helps. If not, please type in the command "3DCONFIG" and share the screenshot.

"PERSPECTIVE" set to "0" did the trick; like night and day. Now I can zoom to the exact point I need.

The PERSPECTIVE at "0", works until I change the view, it goes back to the "1".

I thought with System Variable setting at ")", it will keep that setting in all drawings.

The system variable "PERSPECTIVE" is stored in the drawing. So it would need to be set for each drawing.

Hello, attached video shows what happens, within the same drawing.

When I save the drawing and reopens it, the value remains at "0", until I go to the "HOME" view, the setting reverts to "1".

I have tried 3DORBIT and different views with the WHEEL. The WHEEL HOME button seems to be the culprit.

Just being curious, I reset AutoCAD (2025) to AutoCAD default, just in case something with my LISPs or similar is affection the AutoCAD function. The PERSPECTIVE reverts to "1".

I also reset AutoCAD 2024 to default and the PERSPECTIVE still reverts to "1", when I selected the HOME button of the VIEW CUBE.

The PERSPECTIVE = 0 is not sticking. 

Would it be possible to save the SYSTEM VARIABLE and let it save with the file?
