While drawing a property plat today, I was laying out the lines by bearing and distance.  I got 4 or 5 lines into the plat when I put in a bearing of S33d30'0"E, it drew the line N33d30'0"W. Tried it several times and it kept doing the same thing. Anybody have an answer for this?

Hi, It's the position of your cursor when entering your bearing (angle).  The Dynamic Input is causing your angle to be relative to the position of your mouse so when you locate your cursor horizontally below the previous point it will use the value as a positive direction.  Same thing happens when you are below the last point and type 45 for the angle... it ends up being -45 degrees.

I like dynamic input so I just recommend to my students that they ALWAYS keep their cursor above their previous position when typing the distance and bearings for our plat projects.

Hope that helped.

Hello,

Thank you very much.  This, as usual, was operator error.  I really appreciate it!
