Batch Plotting (Publishing) to PDF

Batch Plotting (Publishing) to PDF

Hi,

I'm looking for a solution to the issue of huge numbers of "comments" being created when PDFing drawings using the DWG to PDF plotter.

When using the integral DWG to PDF plotter, the amount of comments created causes the PDF to become almost impossible to use as it grinds most users laptops to a halt. After some searches on this forum, and others, it appears that since AutoCAD 2016 this feature cannot be disabled.

The benefit of using the integral DWG to PDF plotter is that for batch PDF plots you do not have to specify a filename for each file within the Publish tool, as it just defaults the filenames to the drawing title (with added suffix).

Can anyone recommend a third party PDF plotter which can be used to create PDFs in AutoCADs Publish tool, which will also automatically name the resulting PDF files in line with the filename?

I have tried CutePDF which is fine for plotting individual files (it doesn't create a million comments per drawing), but unfortunately can't be used for batch plotting via Publish tool as a prompt window appears for each file asking for a filename.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

You can use TrueType fonts, then you have real PDF-text and not comments and all is searchable.

If you don't need these objects to be searchable you can set the systemvariable PDFSHX to 0 and so text-like objects in AutoCAD which use SHX-fonts are not exported as comments to PDF.
