Hello, I'm working with AutoCAD full version 2026 and in layout mode the "Base" from model space function doesn't work at all, neither in new drawings created in 2026 or in previous versions 24/25

Hi,

If you're talking about VIEWBASE command ...

  • The VIEWBASE command only works with 3D solids and surfaces. It will not work with Polyface Meshes or 2D objects.
  • Drawing corruption can cause various issues.. Run AUDIT and PURGE commands.
  • VIEWBASE depends on Autodesk Inventor Server, If these are missing or corrupted, the command will fail.

I understand that this command only works with solid or surface materials, and I've also tried the AUDIT and PURGE commands. "VIEWBASE depends on Autodesk Inventor Server"—what does that mean?

according to this Autodesk post, since you're running 2026, there should be a folder installed here:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Inventor Interoperability 2026

Or you may need to log into your Autodesk account and install the Inventor Interoperability extension for 2026

@bdNMJ9U Check for any updates available for AutoCAD 2026. (Install AutoCAD 2026.1.1 or newer version )
