Well I have autoCAD  2009,  I had a normal dwg .  which I "saveas" in doing that the original dwg. vanished.  there was some important details in the original DWG. But I did find  BAK File of the same DWG name.  However I am not able to open or convert BAK file into a DWG,  When I attempt, I get a notification:  "Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the file exists."   How exactly do I open or convert.

Thank you,

Alex B.

Rename the file from BAK to DWG and it'll open.

Note when using SAVEAS the original drawing will not contain any new objects created since the last save.  Always think about saving the source file prior to using SAVEAS.

Hi,

>>  "Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the file exists." <<

this message usually appeared if there is any mistake or wrong character exist in the name of the file.so get back to your CAD file and check it.

>> But I did find  BAK File of the same DWG name. <<

be sure that the .bak extension at the end of the file name is realy the extension NOT added words to the name.in other words make sure that your windows system have the ability to show the extension.

Good Luck...
