Bad definition of linetype after new autocad installation

After a recent autocad 2016 installation on a new computer, my fenceline linetype does not display properly in drawings that were created prior or after the installation.   When I click on the linetype in layer manger, I see that fenceline2 appears to be loaded, but when I click the load button, I get a pop up message that says "Bad definiton of fenceline2 at line 121 of file ......").

I found this solution on the autodesk website, but it only worked temporarily.  When I came back into the drawing later, the linetype was displaying improperly again:

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?  It is occurring an any drawing that had this linetype prior to the new installation.

HI @jeff3J5VE,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Is it possible to attach a sample drawing that had the linetype prior to this happening?  I would like to see if it happens on my side too. It sounds as if the SHX file that it references can't be found or might be corrupt.

John, I attached a file with the issue.  At times today it was displaying properly.  I'd come back into the file at other times, and it was not displaying properly.    If I temporarily change the text styles that contain a yield warning symbol to another shx style, then purge, then save the drawing, close autocad and come back into the drawing, it fixes it.  But temporarily.  If I close the drawing a second time, and come back in, it may or may not still be fixed. It's hit and miss.  So I'm not sure what you'll see on your end.  I've also attached screen shots of what it looks like when it's displaying properly vs. not.  Regen makes no difference.

I should also add that this file serves as an xref to several files.  So not only does this base file have the issue, but so do the files it's xref'd into. I've found when I fix in this base file, I also have to go through that same process in each and every file it's x'ref'd into.  And, much like with the base file, the fix is only temporary.

Also, I've tried some other, unrelated, projects that use this linetype and they are all having the same issue since switching to this new computer.

Hi @jeff3J5VE,

Well, the linetype displays fine on my computer in AutoCAD 2018-2016.

So perhaps you have more than one instance of the SHX file installed or the one you have is either corrupt or perhaps there is a permissions thing going on.

I attached mine from 2018. Give this try and see if makes a difference.

On my screen I don't see the problem either.

After zoom all and zoom back I think I might have spotted your issue.

Does "RegenAll" command help?

Thanks John,  do I just replace my shx file?  If so, how do I go about doing this?
