Hi,

>> AutoCAD 2017 failing plotting in background

That message does not give the information needed to get valid suggestions.

Please let us know:

  • what means "failing", what are you doing, what is AutoCAD reaction to your actions.
  • does that happen with a new drawing based on an AutoCAD original template too
  • which printer are you using, have you tried e.g. "DWG to PDF.pc3"
  • is your AutoCAD up-to-date, which service-pack/update do you have installed.

Please let us know:

  • what means "failing", what are you doing, what is AutoCAD reaction to your actions. ACAD shows message saying he is not able to print in background. Portion of the message "... try to switch off background printing off". Printing in foreground working fine. I'm using publish option to print several sheets at once, into one pdf file.
  • does that happen with a new drawing based on an AutoCAD original template too. That is happening with the drawing that was printed with the same settings, same template in the background before. As mentioned printing without problem in 2015 version
  • which printer are you using, have you tried e.g. "DWG to PDF.pc3" Indeed using DWG to PDF. Other AutoCAD pdf options failing to printig in background as well
  • is your AutoCAD up-to-date, which service-pack/update do you have installed.  N.301.0.0 ACAD 2017.1.1 freshly installed and updated.

Hi @AIR_123,

Can you etransmit a sample of the drawings that are showing this behavior? I would like to try to duplicate this action in order to resolve your issue. If you can't share in a public forum you can send to me privately in email at [email protected]

IMHO, Background Printing is so SLOW that I have always turned it off.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Hi,

Using another template, does that work?

If that is is depending on a specific drawing or a specific layout can you upload data so we can try to reproduce that on our systems?

>> Indeed using DWG to PDF

When you first started AutoCAD 2017 did you migrate settings from 2015?

Here is the file. I've removed content out of it and it seems it's working when it's empty. Original drawing with the content was around 14mb. I have a feeling that there is something with memory management, because AutoCAD was very slow during work. I also experience very slow performance in ACAD 2017 in general (this issue for another topic...).

Indeed, migrate all settings from 2015

Well, then we can't see the problem with the file ...

Don't do that, never ever ... (my personal opinion), in your case you are now using a PC3 defined from your old AutoCAD.

So reset your AutoCAD settings to default and see if _PUBLISH now is working.

Hi @AIR_123,

I agree with @Alfred.NESWADBA, that it is never a good idea to migrate print settings from release to release as you might be moving old definitions that have been changed, updated, or improved in the newer version.
