THIS IS AN ATTEMPT TO GET THE ATTENTION OF AUTODESK PROGRAMMERS -
I am a user of Autodesk products for 10 years - I know the in's and out's of the program. The problems below are not new and yet there have been no solutions provided to users. I have googled and read the majority of previously offered "solutions" so NO those don't work.
AutoCAD 2020 version; PC laptop with hardwired internet and additional screen connections (no, going to the 1 screen does not fix this); graphics card = NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (it's up to date); I have full control permissions on the whole computer.
In contextual/realistic view, zooming in to look at close detail causes the screen to go black - audit, purge, recover, regen, regen3, regenmode, lens length, hardware accelerator, linefading, linesmoothing, etc. do nothing to resolve this problem.
Every .dwg file opened (first time or multiple times) throw error about file being "read-only" when trying to "save", have to select "save" twice to actually save file - properties of parent folder and underlying files set to not be "read-only" through dialog box and command prompt - does not fix problem.
3D orbiting while using the "shift+mmb" is very jumpy and flickers across screen - regen and other options above do not fix this problem.
Acad randomly crashes multiple times a day.
These are the same problems that MANY people have had with previous versions that Autodesk STILL HAS YET TO FIX. I can't do my job if the program is faulty.
Can you give a full list of the specs for your laptop, i.e. age, processor, RAM, memory, etc.... Just a start?
Not the right place for this -- this is fundamentally a User Forum, with light monitoring by some Autodesk employees, but not the ones you want to reach. Go to the Product Feedback page, and also give them all the specs on your setup.
Most if not all of those people can fix those issues locally.
Hi,

>> detail causes the screen to go black
If the screen changes to black then you have a graphic card memory issue (most probably hardware, with minor chance a software/driver issue) ... the reason for that: If it would depend on the geometry of AutoCAD only the drawing area would get black, not the whole screen.

Where are your files stored?
When you create a local folder, e.g. C:\ACADDWG and give that folder ALL permissions, turn off antivirus, can you then save a dwg-file into that folder and open it without readonly? If that works, it's not an AutoCAD issue, you might have permission issues on your network, on your drive you are saving to or with your antivirus.
I don't say AutoCAD is free of errors and that it never crashes ... I just want to show you that also other sources can exist for your issues!
