After the webinars, does nobody have any questions at all, or is the supplied link not working properly. Other than the webinar about annotative objects (sorry Volker you didn't change my mind - I think it's more trouble than it's worth) I have picked up a few useful tips that I am using already to improve my drawing speed. Thankyou

Steven,

Sorry for the delayed respone. I forgot to enable my anti-virus and came down with a nasty bug. Smiley Wink Now feeling better I want to say, "Thanks for that input!" I appreciate that and I do want to state that I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. The idea is to make users aware of the tools. There are numerous tools which I don't use when working with AutoCAD because I have my set ways of doing things. Having said that, once I've been shown a tool or function which makes it easier to get the job done than the way I was doing I'm typically willing to give it a try. If it works for me then I'll continue to use it, if it doesn't there is always my tried and proven method.

In regards to Q&A during and after one of the Webinars, I have been hoping to see more questions posted as well. These Webinars have been a "glossy overview" which I have stated numerous times during our sessions, therefore I am surprised that there aren't more questions. I can only emphasize to users/attendees that we are holding these sessions in order to assist both from an educational perspective as well as a Technical Support perspective, all questions are welcome and we will do our best to answer.

Thanks for attending and Thanks for your input! Cheers!

Volker

Good job, Volker! Your Printing/Plotting and Layouts Webinar was very good, and I learned a lot. I'll keep an eye out for your future Webinars, and attend every one I can. Work sometimes intrudes. Also, I watched Intro to Design Center, 1 & 2, and I'm going to go through all of the archived Webinars.

For the webinar on External REferences, as a followup to my question regarding PDF's and the use of Dropbox:  I am still curious as to why the Dropbox utilzation causes a problem with AutoCAD.  The Dropbox folder is present physically on each computer, and is updated--thus it is not that the Ex Ref (or PDF underlay, etc.) is "in the cloud"--it is only updated from the cloud when the computer is started.  It would seem to me to be the same operation as copying the file, with the Ex Ref. onto a thumbdrive and then copying from tht to another computer, which I have done successfully.  Any further thoughts?  I use Dropbox because I was using it before AutoDesk came out with AutoDesk 360, and am hesittant to switch (I usually update AutoCAD on subscription only every other year, as it seems to take me a couple weeks to get all the settings and CUI items back to "normal!"

Thanks for the input, and for this seminar.  I am looking forward to select viewings of some of the upcoming topics.

Hi Kurt,

What type of issues are you experiencing? Broken links? If that is the case, keep in mind that Dropbox will archive the file which you have modified and my thoughts are that this is breaking the link to the PDF. This happened with Autodesk 360 and reference files when the service was initially introduced. Functionality was later added to Autodesk 360 specifically addressing the problem with references.

I find Dropbox to be a great service which I also use; however, I use Autodesk 360 on a regular basis, especially when working with drawing files (and references), as it was designed for this purpose. If you are hesitant to switch, why not try easing into it, testing the service with a small project?

In regards to upgrading AutoCAD every other year because of your customized settings, we recently presented a Webinar discussing the Migrate Custom Settings utility. I'm having some problems right now in uploading some of our previous Webinars but I hope to have them up this week. The Webinar is entitled, "Troubleshooting 101 Repair Recover and Reset", and it may help you in that regard. In the meantime, check out the help topic, "About Migrating and Transferring Custom Settings" for further information.

Thanks for attending the Webinars, hope to see you in future sessions!

Cheers,
Volker

Christina,

I just watched your Xref Webinar, from the archived collection. Really good job! Well-paced, nicely organized, and lots of things either new to me or clarified things that I didn't have a good grasp of. Thank you. And thanks, also, for the Circular Reference Screencast.

Project Navigator Levels changed to decimal

Just recently we have noticed that the levels in projects that were previously set up in Project Navigator have changed from feet/inches to decimal.

We use a company standard template when starting/setting up projects and that has not changed. Also the C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ACA 2014\enu\Template folder has the AEC imperial dwt files in if that still matters.

I am not sure what triggered this change but how do we get the levels back to displaying in feet / inches?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Hi EricJWD,

As this is a ACA issue, I spoke to one of our specialist that handle this product. We would like to know if this is only happening to one project or all projects you have. Also is this only happening to one machine or multiple?

Please let us know.

Hi Jason,

This has happened to all projects and to all systems. For some reason everything has switched.

Please let me know if you need any additional info.

Thank you for looking into this.

Hi Eric,

I'd like to look into this issue with you a bit further, and see that you posted the same question in the ACA forum a couple weeks ago, but haven't received any responses. I'll respond to you there with a few questions and a suggestion, and continue working with you over there.

I recently watched the webinar 'Beyond the Basics Macro Automation'.  During the presentation the speaker mentioned that the macros were available for download.  Where can I find these macros?

Thank you,

During the Macro webinar, the use of DIESEL expressions was mentioned. I would like to see a webinar done on them.

The webinars have been very helpful. Thank you.

Great webinar today!

I have a question regarding custom Icons. I created Icons that i put in custom ribbons as well as in a tool bar. I created several versions of the icons and the newest one is not showing up in the program its self. Is there some kind of 'refresh icons' command?

I'd rather learn from the mistakes of people who took my advice

Hi Richard,

The macros are in the slide deck link from Volker's last post: PowerPoint slide deck

Please change your PowerPoint view to display the notes section. The macros are in the notes section of slide 8.
