Autodesk App Store apps not functioning after installation

I recently upgraded to AutoCAD 2016 and stumbled across the Autodesk App Store. I found a couple of free utilities, one of which I used previously (but as a lisp routine).

I downloaded the apps and intalled them. If I open the Exchange App Manager it shows the apps as installed and up to date. However, none of the apps are showing up on the Add-ins tab other than what was there when I first intalled CAD (Explore, Exchange App Manager and Import SKP File). I tried to type in the command that is shown on the app's help document but it is saying that it is an uknown command. I also e-mailed the app's creator who said it sounds like an issue with the Autodesk installer for the apps which is created by Autodesk.

I restarted AutoCAD, I rebooted my computer. I have not gone through the steps of reinstalling AutoCAD as it is a lengthly process and I am unsure if it would be beneficial.

Below is a screenshot of the App Manager window showing the apps I installed along with the Add-ins ribbon displayed above. Maybe this will help. Any assistance I can get would be great. Thanks!

it appears from the ADD-INS tab on the Ribbon that these are not actually installed in the workspace or profile you have active.
Download and reinstall them for the AutoCAD versions and profiles (and workspaces) would be the first thing to try.

I didn't change either the profile or the workspace at any point since installing these apps. I did go ahead and uninstall one of them and reinstall it from the current profile and workspace and I am getting the same thing. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Are you running an Enterprise CUI in your office? I'm not, and I cannot repeat your issue here.

These need to be added to your Enterprise CUI then: a stock install of the add-ins will not do that for you.

Or find and load the user CUI file along with your Enterprise CUI.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I googled and found the following article about this topic: http://beyondcivil3d.blogspot.com/2013/01/corporate-cui-setup-to-include-new.html

I have created a new workspace in my main CUI file and put in all the ribbons, menus, etc. from the enterprise CUI file along with the newly created "plug-ins" tab as they have suggested. I uninstalled the apps I was trying to use and reinstalled them but still no luck. They show up in the App Manager but no buttons are on the new plug-ins tab and the commands to operate them still don't work. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

You'll have to wait for someone with more experience with Enterprise Menus and App store add-ins to jump in.

I tried to reproduce the problem which you are having and was not able to reproduce the issue.
Do the apps work at all from the Enterprise CUI? If so, try the following steps:

  1. Open the CUI Editor
  2. Switch to the Transfer tab
  3. Select the Enterprise CUI from the drop-down (New File) in the right pane
  4. Main Customization File listed in the left pane
  5. Drag and drop the default Workspace from the Enterprise CUI to the Workspaces branch of the main customization file
  6. Click Apply
  7. Switch to the Customize tab
  8. In the Main customization Workspaces branch set the newly copied Workspace current (rename with a unique name)
  9. Having selected that Workspace, verify that the "Add-ins" group is listed under the Ribbon Tabs
  10. Click Apply and OK to exit the CUI editor
  11. Test the Apps

Note: One may need to switch to another Workspace and back again for the Ribbon to update as expected.

HTH. Cheers,

Volker

We got new computers with Acad 2016 last week and I just tried installing these again and they worked just fine. Must have been something with the old system or the CUI on that sytem.
