AutoCadd kicking me out

AutoCadd kicking me out

I am having real problems with a variety of functions.

1)  I open up  a drawing, want to change either the line color or line weight and it kicks me out and the AutoCad alert download scenario appears on the screen

2)  If I hit any of the Insert, Annotate, Layout, View etc. descriptions, it kicks me out.

3)  On some of my drawings, I can access the LA order and the all layers used in my drawings come up.  I can change the line type and color in some drawings, but in other the color in the box above the drawing will not change, it is stuck.

This is a recent phenomena.  This is seriously eating into my productivity.

I need real help.

Hi @Anonymous,

When you receive these errors do you also have the opportunity to send a crash report? if so do you have the report number?

Can you also please send me a NFO file to john.vellek@autodesk.com?  Can you check your installed programs and tell me which version of .NET Framework is installed?

If you are getting desperate for this to work properly then perhaps a clean uninstall and reinstall is in order. But I would prefer to get the answers to these questions first if possible.

Hi @Anonymous,

The NFO shows that WSCommcntr4.exe is failing. This typically means that there is a permissions issue. Please review the details in this article to ensure both your acad.exe and the service have proper permission settings.

Once you have done this if you continue to see problems, I suggest that you run a diagnostic startup and turn off everything so you can run AutoCAD in a clean environment. If that works then one of those startup programs is causing a problem.

I am also taking a look through the CER to see if I can any other issues that might be pertinent.

Have you applied all the hotfixes and service pack for AutoCAD 2014 from here?

Another article can be found here that describes a DLL issue which might have been caused by the Windows update.

Hi @Anonymous

Are you referring to the email about 11 AM yesterday? I believe I posted my last post about the same time.  Are you still experiencing issues?  It sounded as if you disabled the MRU (most recently used) list to get things working.

If this is not working still then since a DLL was replaced or damaged, I would consider a clean uninstall and reinstall.

Please let me know your status.

Everything is running fine after I followed Autodesk procedure that amounted to getting rid of the registry.

Up and running. Also sent you the link regarding the Autodesk procedure.

Out of curiosity. Did you ever try creating a new computer profile on your pc and starting AutoCAD in it? This essentially forces AutoCAD to create a new user registry. Not quite as extreme as what you did but darn close.
