Hi there,

I bought new laptop and installed Product Design Suite 2017.

I would like to use "Text" or "Mtext"

But It works so slow!

Every text function like "text, style, textedit, dtext, mtext"  perform so slow.

I tired turning off "3dconfig" and updated graphic card as recent.

other function is okay.

What should I do for it?

Thanks

Hello

Are you speaking about ACAD 2017 ?

Have you installed the SP1 on ACAD 2017 ?

Is it slow on a blank DWG ?

Hi! Thank you for response.

Yes I'm running AutoCAD 2017 with SP1.

It's slow on a blank new drawing as well.

Hi,

>> Yes I'm running AutoCAD 2017 with SP1

Then please update to "AutoCAD 2017 Update 1.1"

...and please let us know which operating system you are using.

>> It's slow on a blank new drawing as well.

Create such a new drawing with two text-objects and upload it here please.

  • First text object with a style that is based on the TXT.SHX font ==> verify if that is slow too.
  • Second text object with a style you are used to have.

>> But It works so slow!

What exactly is slow? Starting the command, entering text, changing text properties, moving the text, ...

If you can create a screencast (>>>Autodesk Screencast<<< is free) then we hopefully see what's happening exactly.

Please start command _GRAPHICSCONFIG and show us a screenshot from that dialog.

As a first guess: have you fonts on your system created/copied/installed that differ from a default operating system setup?

Hi! Thank you for reply.

I'm running AutoCAD Mechanical and AutoCAD. But I can't see Service pack 1.1 for AutoCAD.

Both run so slow when I use function related with "TEXT"

I already tried doing _GRAPHICSCONFIG . I didn't work for me.

When I type on AutoCAD Command "Text", "MText", "TEXTEDIT", "STYLE" like that is related with "TEXT things"

It stucks a few minutes when I type command text things.

Hi,

Not "service pack" ... it's named "update 1.1".

And you get it either by Autodesk Desktop App or when you login to >>>manage.autodesk.com<<< ==> Product Updates and then scroll down in the list

So starting the command takes long, but when it is started all is working normal?

I guess the most important question is not answered:

...have you fonts on your system created/copied/installed that differ from a default operating system setup?

Because if starting text-like command needs a long time (to start) it can be dependent on the number of installed fonts or there are paths defined which are

  • not reachable any more
  • are slow on network or external (cloud) paths
  • are permission restricted.

Let's start with: disconnect your system from all networks, then start AutoCAD and try the text command again.

Also start command _OPTIONS ==> first tab "Files" and go through each single path and verify that it really exists.

How many TTF and SHX fonts is AutoCAD finding that are installed on your new PC? Count them, let us know. Way too many and excessive counts of font files do what you describe too.

Hi! Thank you for response!

I checked how many fonts I have.

There are bunch of fonts, and then I set to default.

Finally I can use text function faster.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
