AutoCAD Table Woes

Could someone please explain why I can't add a row either above or below?

And how do I fix it?

It may have to do with the table being linked to some inapplicable data source, but I can't disconnect.

Here ya go, @paullimapa .

Many thanks for your interest.

This table has also been mutilated by going though a colleague's turn with it, but I don't think he had done anything to the table on purpose or even accidentally.

Have fun.

when you select a cell and hover over any of the cells within the green markered borders you'll notice a chain symbol appear along with a popup note that lets you know this section of the table is linked to an excel file preventing you from adding any rows in between:

FYI, if you want to permanently remove the datalink to the excel file:

Select any one cell inside the green marked area

Right mouse click & select Data Links on the cursor menu

Left mouse click on Detach Data Link

On the popup window select Yes

Now you can insert rows above & below any row

@paullimapa

YAY!  That did it.

Some of the key techs around here don't like tables just because they are intimidated, so they type mtext with tabs and such and do all the math on their calculator.  My revealing the problem to them yesterday further augmented their mistrust.  Now I should have a better chance of winning them over.

Many thanks!

Tables do provide some powerful features within AutoCAD but you do have to be willing to explore and experiment...glad to have helped...cheers!!!

@cadffm ,

"Verbindung Aufheben" translates to unconnect or unlink, which did not appear in the English menu.  So I tried the third item from the bottom of the menu, which is "unmerge."

That did not solve the problem, but I seriously appreciate your effort.   Many thanks!

I tried to show the same as Paul posted later in #6,

but for the whole table/all cells

Activate the table edit mode, select all (looks like that)

and today I can create a screenhsot from an english version 🙂
