AUTOCAD Startup

Hey all. I recently got a new computer at work and I'm setting up autocad from scratch. When I start autocad, I don't want drawing1 to pop up, I don't want to see the startup tab, I don't want a dialog box to pop up, I want absolutely nothing to happen, and for CAD to start with a blank screen with the toolbars and no tabs at all. I got this to work on my old computer but I can't remember how to do this. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Edit: I'm running autocad 2018 on windows 10.

Hi,

STARTUP system variable controls what is displayed when the application is started, or when a new drawing is opened. >> Click <<  also you can try and see if MENUBAR , RIBBON command could help . then save your settings as a special workspace bu using WORKSPACE command.

For no start tab, set STARTMODE to 0.

"Drawing1.dwg" will go away as soon as you open another drawing (presuming that DBMOD=0). If you still want to close it anyway before that point, then add this to your "Acad.lsp" file (or create the file if needed and make sure it's in your support file search path)

;;-------------------------------------------------------
(defun-q start1 () (vl-cmdf "._close"))
(setq s::startup (append s::startup start1))

I did, still opens "Drawing 1". Are there any other settings I need to change?

Hmm, I don't remember having to add specific code to kill Drawing1. There's no other way of preventing cad from doing anything at startup?

Yes I did.

I found the solution! These settings were what I used:

STARTUP=2

STARTMODE=0

Autocad now opens as just a blank screen, which is exactly what I wanted.

Thanks all!

Now if you never want to have to fool with this again, set those variables in your "Acad.lsp" filefile and be done with it. If and when you move up to AutoCAD 2019, 2020, 2021, etc., the same variables will work and you will not have to worry about remembering them.
