AutoCAD save-as location

I just installed a new copy of AutoCAD on my computer, when I have a file open and go to Save-as the folder location is coming up My Documents.  Before the new install of AutoCAD when I would do a Save-as the folder location would be the same folder that the drawing is in.  Am I missing a setting of some kind?

If you launch AutoCAD with a shortcut, there is normally a "Start in" property in the shortcut that points to a particular folder.

If you launch AutoCAD by double-clicking a DWG (or other associated filetype) file, the Save As location will be set to that DWG's location.

There may be other ways in which the setting changes, but those are the two that I'm aware of.

you can try this and see if helps. thanks

  1. Right-click the AutoCAD shortcut icon and click Properties.
  2. In the Start in field, enter the desired folder path (example: C:\Drawings).
  3. Launch AutoCAD.
  4. Type REMEMBERFOLDERS in the command line.
  5. Enter 0 to turn it off.
