AutoCAD randomly shuts down - no errors

We are using AutoCAD 2018 on a network. We have about 30 available licenses. I have 5 users (so far) who say their AutoCAD randomly shuts down. No errors, no warning, just gone.

This usually happens when they are not looking. Perhaps getting a cup of coffee or something. They come back to their desk and AutoCAD is just not running, and they swear that it was.

I'm not using an Options file, the license file is all up to date. This just started happening last week and is still happening. I think it might have happened with me. It's just one of those things... you come back to your computer and there's no AutoCAD and you swear it was running when you left. Makes one question his sanity. Non-the-less, it's happening to several people. Any ideas?

Two updates:

1. It's happening with our Civil 3D people now.

2. It seems to be a Panzura issue with their last update.

Our IT guy put in a ticket with Panzura (a file serving system). He just received a response from Panzura acknowledging there is an issue with AutoCAD and the latest Panzura upgrade.  See part of the response below:

From Panzura, "There's currently a bug with AutoCAD in 7.1.6.0 where if users use either Data Set Manager or Project Navigator to manipulate  folders, ie renames, creates deletes and/or browsing within will cause AutoCAD to randomly crash. Engineering has investigate and know what the cause of the issue is however it will not be resolved until PZOS 7.1.7.0 which will not be released until end of this month.

If this is heavily impacting your users, our only recommendation at this point until PZOS 7.1.7.0 is released is to downgrade the filers back to 6.3.1.3. If this is something you wish to do, please let me know as I'll go ahead and create new case for the downgrade so that someone can assist. Please also let me know when you'd like to schedule this for so that I can verify that Support Engineer will be available at that time."

We are going to downgrade Panzura to hopefully solve this issue. I'll keep you posted.

Hi @LyleHardin,

Thanks so much for this information. I will relay it to the specialist working on the other case. Kudos to you. I hope they get the fix out quickly so life can return to normal.

I've had no one tell me their AutoCAD is disappearing since we downgraded Panzura. I think this issue is solved.

This is happening to me also.  I have removed, reinstalled, restarted, spun around in circles, stood on my head while whistling still no solution!  Please advise!
