AutoCAD on Surface Pro 4 ?

Hey guys ,

I am a newbie to the AutoCAD world . I am currently enrolled in a beginner level course for September 2020. I have a 4 year old Surface Pro 4 that has 4GB of RAM and 2.4 GHZ speed, will it be enough for an entry level user ? In the beginning would only be doing 2D drawings and line diagrams for electrical industry ?

please help , thank you !

That is at the bottom end of the system requirements but should be good enough for someone who's never used AutoCAD before nd is still learning: you'll eventually hate it then you can go buy a better spec'd SurfacePro7 or other laptop.

See link for >system requirements<

I doubt you would even get AutoCAD to install on your tablet, and the "user experience" would be pretty poor if you could. While the listed requirements are intended to be general guidelines, and not any guarantee that a system will or will not work, your tablet is way below minimum. I would recommend at least a 3.0Ghz quad-core processor and a discrete graphics card (some "gaming" cards will perform quite well, at a significant cost savings over "workstation" cards, leaving more money in the budget for faster CPU, more RAM, etc.)

16GB RAM is a good starting point. SSD is also desirable, at least for system boot drive and software.

Hope this helps.
