AutoCAD not opening DWG properly

We are having an issue on all of the computers in the office. whenever we export a DXF or DWG of a face or drawing (IDW) from inventor, when AutoCAD opens it, all the embossed or extruded text is incredibly blocky. We have noticed this only recently, but was sometime after the update to 2022 in both programs. I can confirm both the DWG and DXF files are fine as I have opened them with other providers programs, inventor and Truview with no evidence of any issues. normal text comes in fine no issues. as do circles and other complex curves. just text turned into geometry.

some pictures attached to show the kind of issues.

Hi ennujozlagam,

I had a look through that and it didnt really address the question. We arent trying to deal with 3d parts being exported from inventor to autocad, just a dxf of a part face or drawing of a final part for profile cutting. I know inventor is not the problem as ive yet to find a program other than autocad that doesnt open them correctly.

Two things to look at that might help.

When your drawing is completely loaded press F2 and scroll up through to see if there is TEXT FONTS being substituted. If so you need to add that font to 2022.

Second and the longest. Open your drawing up on your older AutoCAD version and type SETVAR and then ?

Select the entire list and copy paste into Column 1 in Excel

Now do the same for when you open the same drawing in AutoCAD 2022 and copy and paste all into the Column 2 in Excel.

Now in Excel Select Both Columns and go to Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cell Rules, Duplicate Values and say OK.  Now you should be able to scroll down easily and see if there is Variables that don't match between your two versions of AutoCAD (they would be the ones that don't have a background color showing). If you find some that are not a match, exit out of your drawing, set the variables and then reload your drawing. Maybe this can solve you problems.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Emilio and JRR.

both good suggestions and I looked through what you had recommended, and at the same time did a bit more digging myself.
the trouble shooting with fonts suggested by emilio didnt end up applying in this case as the 'text' comes in as plain geometry, either a spline or grouped 2d polyline.

same reason with with the TEXT FONTS being substituted, it didn't happen as it was geometry. I checked all the settings between the current and 2021 and the same values appeared to carry over for each option. repeated on another computer in the office and had the same result.

So my additional digging showed that the time new roman font was correctly displayed and it came through as a grouped 2d polyline. this includes the Font file i modified for use with profile cutting. however the fonts that are failing are coming through as a ungrouped 2d spline. some intermittently come through with multiple tracings all slightly different. in these instances, the other programs still open the dwg correctly. Is there an option in autocad that removes splines below certain length on opening or averages out a few very short splines into one slightly larger one. or is it potentially turning the polyline into a spline in some cases? I seem to remember having this issue years ago something to do with the interpolation of inventors 'splines' (which are similar to autocads polylines), but I never asked online about it.
