AutoCAD network bandwith usage

Hello,

When i copy a dwg file with Windows Explorer from a server to my pc, the process uses 100% capacity from my LAN network.

When i open the same dwg file stored on a server with my local AutoCAD there is only 15% capacity in use from my LAN network.

Why does AutoCAD not use the 100% bandwith from a LAN network when open files, just like copy command from Windows Explorer?

It's on different network enviroment's in different company's.

AutoCAD never open drawings with 100% bandwith use.

Why?

Thanks,

Wim

Hi,

copying a file does not need to check the content, create a memory image from the content, display the file's content in color/linetype/on layers/in layout/evaluate hatch borders .... but all this is done when AutoCAD opens a file.

Hi,

Open a file from a local harddrive is faster than open from a network drive. It seems that not using more than 50% bandwidth is the bottleneck.

Thanks

Wim
