AutoCad Mtext Overflows the box

In MText we draw a box and type text. As soon as text reaches the end of the box, the next word goes to new line.

But sometime it doesn't and the box keep expanding. Especially if I am using fractions in text.

So if the text does not contain any spaces then the box keep expanding to right even though there are multiple words with fractions between them? Is my understanding correct or is anything else going on?

That's the issue -- spaces are what Mtext-box-width-based word-wrapping happens around.  Or [independent of the box width] you can force a new line without a space, using Enter [puts \\P into the text content] or Shift+Enter [put in \n].   Unless and until any of those is encountered, yes, I think there can always be overflow of the box width.

The KEY is to control (or manipulate) the size of the mtext box.

The width of the mtext box is quantified and is displayed in the Properties Palette described as Paper defined width. A larger number represents a wide box, while a smaller number means a narrower box.  See image-1.

Double-click the arrows in upper-right of the mtext editor and the box will shrink to the narrowest size. If you have more than one line of mtext, it will shrink to your widest line. See image-2.

You can also drag those double arrows to the middle of the editor. If you do that, Paper defined width will display zero (0). When paper defined width is 0, you control when a line ends and a new one begins. (You may also select multiple mtext objects simultaneously and enter '0'  in the Properties Palette so all those selected mtext objects will have 0 for their Paper defined width.) See image-3.

FYI, when Paper defined width is 0, you can still use the feature known as Background Mask. (Your cursor must be flashing in the mtext editor to execute Background Mask.) See image-4.
