AUTOCAD MODELING ERRORS

I've always used AutoCAD out the box to model some pretty sophisticated as well as simple items.  I've worked AutoCAD since 1989.  I've never ever received so many modeling errors.  below are just a few I captured and copied to a log, just today.  I"ve provided the error and the command it failed in and the text therein.

MAYBE it's their new modeler issues....no idea.

Modeling Operation Error:

Error Code Number is 102007

Failed to perform blend.

Failure while chamfering.

The Boolean operation on solid and/or surface bodies failed.

I open them on an older conference room misc computer that still has
2013 and everything is fine...

I do the same on any newer computer that has 2018 and massive errors...

Other then somehow reloading 2013 onto all the designer computers, I
can't see any other options...

not cool...

Have you thought of trying to up convert the files with another software?

How about fixing the geometry so that it doesn't throw any errors as that seems to be the solution to the OP?

No offense but if this project is so critical, you might think about pulling in someone more familiar with this kind of thing, not some random dude who may never have come across this issue.

as these project files have more then the model (include paper space
with all the dimensions/annotations/breakouts), converting the files may
save the models but will loose all the other content...

Granted if I could simply pull the model, the paper space is less of an
issue...

As for other softwares, we also have Inventer and Plant 3D which both
open the files fine but as soon as one tries to file-save-as something,
they too crash...

I open the same file again in 2013, no issues...

The AutoCAD file does not give the option to fix anything but rather
deletes just about everything that is a solid...

IF it gave the option to fix the issues, that would be great but from
what I can tell, it does not define the issue..

No offense taken...I've been doing this since 2001 and am pretty
familiar with the nuances of AutoCAD.

This issue has only occurred in the transition from 2013 to 2018... all
previous versions were fine with older files so this is odd...

I had our IT person reloading 2013 onto all the designers computers over
the weekend as I can't figure out how to fix this otherwise...

Hopefully Autodesk will develop a patch or a means of offering the user
a way to fix the issue before deletions occur...

Based on all to forums, this is not an isolated issue...

As stated above by an Autodesk employee, this issue is a result of advances in the modeler. It is picking up errors that were overlooked in the previous one. I don't think there is any fix other than eliminating the new errors in the old files. Not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination. Draw and test, rinse and repeat.

Paper space is a non-issue here. That is not getting deleted.

The save as probably doesn't do anything other than convert the file format. You would need something that actually converts the geometry to something usable. It's too bad that the older modeler allowed user generated errors but I wouldn't be so sure that some other software can fix them just because you tried a save as. You need to be actively doing some sort of conversion hoping that the errors get fixed.

Working in 2013 gets the job done because it still ignores the errors. If this is something that will rear it's ugly head in the future, you need to be aware of it and it may be necessary to do a lot of rework if you can't find a way to convert the old files. Plus, it's only a matter of time before 2013 will be dead.

It's called development. It makes some people happy and some, not so happy.

Development team has left the building...

A workaround that works for me is slicing the unwilling 3dsolid first and after that subtract does work so I subtract 2 times and after that union the parts back together again
