AutoCAD - Maximum recommended distance between a geometry and origin

Hi All,

I have a 3D model in which a geometry is as far as 4 miles from the origin. Is there a recommended maximum distance between a geometry and the origin so that the accuracy of the model isn't compromised?

Regards,

Ashenafi

Hi and Welcome to AutoCAD Forum,

There is NO certain distance .. but whenever your CAD object's location closer to origin your accuracy will be In safe .

Systems with double floating precision use 16 valid digits of precision. So if your model is 16 miles from the origin, you would need xxxxx units of places just to cover this offset. Then it depends on what detail you're expecting to have. Whether it's 0.xxx or 0.xxx xxx units. And beyond that - system would need some more to be able to calculate its own functions to your expected precision. Say add 4 more digits.  So in total, you need xxxxx xxx xxxx digits.

Still... you're good to go.

same direction, additional:

Each additional coordination point decreases the precision,
so it doesn't really have anything to do with distance,
because -0.xxx-xxxxxxxx,-0.xxx-xxxxxxxx force the same problems like 101234567891,101234567891 - although it is almost wcs zero point.

The problem is not the wcs coordinates or your used length and distances only.

Using low clean integer coordinates and length/distances millions far away from 0,0,0ucs works fine,

but a flout
