Autocad made to disappear model after union comand

Autocad made to disappear model after union comand

Hi,

i was modeling one thing, and after using union command it disappeared. I'm attaching two files "droztukas" and "droztukas_virsus" . I was working with "droztukas" file, there you can see some models, i was working with model in the center. It had two layers "top" and "bottom". I was working with "top" layer. I wanted to make union comand with that layer models, but after union command it just disappeared, and undo command didn't recovered it. I also tried .bak file, but it was too late. On the "droztukas_virsus" file you can see that top model, which disappeared, i converted it from .stl file, that i saved day before.

Did somebody know how this happened?  Is it possible to recover it?

Hi,

>> but after union command it just disappeared

I opened your file ""DROZTUKAS.dwg" and first ran command _AUDIT ==> it found an error! I let it repair.

Next was to start command _UNION, selected first the green then the red object ... worked fine.

I was using AutoCAD 2021.1 ... which version of AutoCAD did you use?

Hi,

>> no no no, there was another green object

Please first start with my suggestion and run command _AUDIT ... you'll see that there are defects in the file, one result of this is that 1 of the 28 3D-Solids will be removed.

Then, when speaking "there was another object" ... please describe which of the 28 3D-Solids you are trying to union, otherwise we have to try 27^27 times until we might get the result you reached.

The previous description with "i was working with model in the center" as well as "I was working with "top" layer. I wanted to make union comand with that layer models" is also not clear (at least for me) as the center model does not have more than 1 3D-Solid on layer "top", so I can't unify 2 objects on the layer top on the center model when there only exists one object.

I was trying to union that green bent object with object which you can see i the "droztukas_virsus.dwg" file, yes i know in "droztukas_virsus.dwg" file there is not solid object, because it's converted from .stl file, but when i was trying to union objects, both of them was solids, i just want to show you how that object looked like.

I know this issue is very confusing, i will try to explain it again.  I was working with three objects, green bent object, green top object (on "droztukas_virsus.dwg" file you can see how it had to look like) and red bottom object. I tried to union both green objects, but instead of union it just disappeared, and UNDO command didn't returned it. So i closed the file, opened again and tried again, it disappeared again. So i closed it again, didn't saved it, and when i opened again that green top object was disappeared. I tried to union other objects in same file, it worked fine.

Does it make clear of my situation?

Hi,

>> I tried to union both green objects,

Lets try to get it simplifies. Please open your file, then delete all objects that are not to be unified and save that as new drawing. Upload this dwg-file ... this gives us the chance to know exactly which objects you are referring to.

I'm also not sure if (or why) you ignored my suggestion to run command _AUDIT. As your drawing contains defects the very first job to do is to clean the drawing from errors before continuing any further testing.

Hi,

>> i did Audit command, and it deleted my object, why is that?

Command _AUDIT checks each object if it is valid (geometry as well as it's other properties).

If it finds an object which is not error free then it tries to repair it, if repairing is not possible the object is deleted.
