autocad keeps crashing

Anonymous
Not applicable

Im hoping someone could help me out. I have a msi apache with a 970m gpu, and i am having trouble with autocad 2016 and 2018. I had 2016 for awhile and it ran fine but i needed it yesterday and it kept freezing up about 2 minutes into my drawing, did it on anything i opened. I tried updating autodesk, windows, and nvidia with no luck. Also tried running with directx9 with no results, so i made the switch to the 2018 model. Now it opens but freezes as soon as its open. What is causing all of this,it is getting frustrating trying to get it to work again.

I’ve tried most of the solutions with no results, but I do not know how to delete and reinstall the right c++ files, could they be the issue. Or do you think it’s a graphics issue. I tried running it with the 970m like I usually do and it freezes up, I also tried integrated graphics with the same results.

Accepted solution
I contacted msi and they said it could be a computer virus or infected file. I did a factory reset and it runs great now.

I have the same problem for a longer time. Autocad keeps crashing over the last 6 years. I tried different systems, settings, at different companies, from Autocad 2013 up to 2019. Every time i'm working on a slightly larger file the task manager says; 'not responding' for over a couple of seconds. Sometimes it totally freezes.

I think this is part of the deal.

Or is this better on mac?  Now I'm on a Dell XPS i9 2.4(turbo 5.0Ghz) 16GB Ram, SSD disk - Autocad 2019. (geforce gtx1650).

Any ideas?

greetings,

F.

Read through the posts, there are lots of things you need to try, nothing new is out there.

You also need to ensure you are running 2019.1.2: ABOUT command will confirm what you have.

And if you triggered the migration feature to move content from 2013 to 2019, then you have to undo all of that with a 2019 reset first.

NOTE: if you like missing features and an all different user interface, by all means just to the MAC version, it should do wonders for your productivity for the first few months 🙂
