Hi!

I am wondering how to trim a large number of lines around a countour, the countour is easy to see by the eye but I can not find a way to trim it. See picture 1 for how it looks like without trimming and picture 2 for how i want it to look like after trimming.

Use the "XTRIM" command

Hi Tim! Thank you for the answer!

the contour is not a single entity, it is formed by multiple lines and arcs. So I don’t think xtrim will work (I am not sure)

Do you have another solution.

Draw a rectangle around some of the drawing and then use the BOUNDARY command to create a singe polyline by picking a point inside the rectangle.  Trim as necessary.

If you can set the boundary on its own layer or as a separate color, you can use qselect to select the boundary then use xtrim.

If you can share the drawing I could experiment .

Here's an example of using boundary.  The red  lines are similar to the rolling profile you are using to create an involute curve. The green polyline is the result of the boundary command.

Ah, now I see.  Good work.

Hopefully the original complex boundary can be uploaded so we can do a couple tests.

Hello guys! The boundary box worked very well. I very much aprreciate your time and effort! I can upload a dxf file so you can try for your own. My next step will be to try and make it automated.

best regards Robin
