AutoCAD freezes leaving block editor

I just upgraded to AutoCAD 2020 and it's been giving me a lot of issues.  First is the program freezing when I leave block editor on certain drawings.  So far I have only tested a small handfull of drawings and it happens about 90 % of the time.  After that I close AutoCAD and I can no longer load the file I was just frozen on.  I try to load it and AutoCAD just freezes again.  Now those files are basically lost to me.  Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

HI,

i suggest to check :

  • from an empty drawing type RECOVER and select that CAD file and see if any changes ?
  • make sure that your CAD updates are installed . >> Click <<

What does ABOUT command list as your exact 2020 version?
You might benefit from resetting 2020 to factory defaults too https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to...

I tried the RECOVER method, and AutoCAD instantly froze.  A report popped up saying 555 errors found, 555 errors fixed, then froze again.  I already updated before posting on here.  Thank you though!

I can start a new drawing no problem. I can finish it, as long as block editor is not used.

Unfortunately, it does not.  I just get a spinning wheel and a frozen AutoCAD.

Log into your PC as an all new user with admin rights, all new as in it never existed before, then try to replicate the problem, does it?

This is a simpler method to wiping out your PC and starting over.

My computer was just wiped a week ago, and I installed AutoCAD2020 right after this.  Also, I am Admin on my PC, but I will try anyway.  Thank you for the idea!
