AutoCAD Export or Save As to ProE

AutoCAD Export or Save As to ProE

I have read online that there are alot of issues Exporting or Save As from AutoCAD 2D or Inventor to Pro-E file format.  The issues as I understand them are that pieces or features are lost or incomplete when the file is opened in Pro-E after the file has been exported or Save As from AutoCAD.  Does someone know or have experience with this?  Are there better ways to perform this process or a different AutoDesk software to get around this issue?

Are you familiar with Pro/E features?

The geometry will be translated, but no feature tree.

The Pro/E (Creo?) user will have to run feature recognition in that software.

Here is an example of a feature tree.

Creo keeps a record of everything you do, in the order you do it.

Hello Andrew.Mason, and welcome to the Forums!

Are you talking about using SaveAs and saving the file as a DXF file, or DWG file?

What version of either file type will make a difference as well, since later versions include more features.

There are a lot of options regarding the Export feature, and functionality would depend on what output file type is being used.

Really though, since you are asking about the problems in Pro E with information that comes from AutoCAD and the issues it has in Pro/E, it seems to me that you should probably post in their Forums too.

I think that double posting increases your chances of getting the most information about the issue you are pursuing.

They will probably have some good suggestions there that might be more in-line with your needs.
