AutoCAD Error or just Settings?

Good day guys!

I just have a very simple issue in my autocad.

i am trying to type in

DETAIL 01:

but, after typing this and i hit enter, this is what's appearing:

DETAIL :01

the colon symbol transfers in front of 01.

not just this, this happens when im typing any text symbol,

it always transfer in front of the letter or the number they are with.

even if i put space in between the number and text symbol,

or between the letter and the text symbol, the text symbol transfers in front of it.

why is that?

thank you for your answers.

Hi,

>> i am trying to type in DETAIL 01:

When I type in DETAIL or _DETAIL followed by <ENTER> I can't find a command with that name.

The "01" after the space is already an option to the command ... and this command does not exist, at least not in plain (Vanilla) AutoCAD.

So I guess

  • you might have a vertical product that know a command _DETAIL
  • you might have an application or tool loaded, which has that command defined.
  • I simply have not understood what you did ... then we need a bit more details, e.g. what you get in your command-line (screenshot would help after you started the command)

hi sir alfred!

i am sorry i did not explain it clearly.

using the MTEXT command, i want to type in "DETAIL 01:"

just like in the photo:

001.jpg

but when i'm done typing, this is what's appearing:

000.jpg

the text symbol colon ( : ) transfers in front of 01.

why do you think this happens?

thank you very much

Hi,

Well, I have tried that and neither while typing nor after ending the MTEXT command the text "DETAIL 01:" changes to anything else.

It might be some kind of spell checking, but to be honest, I don't know any setting that would change the position of the colon.

Does that happen only while you create the text at the first time or does that also happen when you first type in "DETAIL 01", then end the text editor, double-click to enter edit-mode and then add the colon.

Also please start command _ABOUT and show us a screenshot of that dialog.

Hi,

>> i am thinking to just uninstall and reinstall my autocad

No, not necessary at this current situation.

First please update AutoCAD 2018, it should show release 2018.1.2 and so use Autodesk Desktop App to find and install the updates or go to the subscription center (https://manage.autodesk.com), download the update installer files from that location and install it.

If that does not help you might try to reset settings to default as described >>>here<<<.

Hi August,

Even though it sounds weird, Lets give a shot. Please follow below steps and let me know the outcome of it.

Option-01

  1. Select the MTEXT which has "automatically" re-positioned the symbol.
  2. Now explode it
  3. See if the Single line text (previously MTEXT) has any additional character outside of the original ones
  4. if it has any, kindly paste the whole string of single line text here(so that we can have a look)

Option-02

  1. Select all the content inside the text editor
  2. Right-click and select Remove Formatting -> Remove all formatting

lastly check if this is occurring while typing it in a single line text(explode a mtext and try typing in it)

Shot in the dark.

Is bulleting (or some other formatting) turned on?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
