AutoCAD Error Abort

AutoCAD Error Abort

In AutoCAD 2016, usually while trying to save the file, AutoCAD will abort and give me this message

AutoCAD Error-abort

Error handler re-entered. Exiting now.

e227A_06_trying to save.PNG

After recieving the message, if you restart AutoCAD and open your file, it begins to happen more frequently. Eventually AutoCAD then does not even launch. This is at a college where we have the educational version, and it seems to happen with only several computers, and not for every student.

Hello s-diana.iyerusalimets, and welcome to the Forums!

Please check out the following link regarding that error:

Error: "Error handler re-entered. Exiting now." while using AutoCAD

As that article explains, it could be either AutoCAD (most likely) or your drawing (less likely, based on the fact that it is happening on several systems).

You will have to have the instructor or Administrator get involved, as it seems unlikely that the students will have the necessary permissions to perform several of the potential fixes.

Don't accept any 'solution' until it is actually documented that it works.

This same error is now become an issue within our organization, happens on multiple computers, random times.  How about it Autodesk?  Want to offer up an actual solution?

I've rebuilt all settings files, reverted back to the original unchanged setting files, have tried both network and local locations for files, and every other offered up excuse of a solution that has been put out there.  All without resolution.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry to hear that you are having this issue. As stated previously, this message can be generated by a variety of different issues.  In my experience I usually have found that the drawing is at fault.

I know that this is likely an intermittent problem but if you could attach a file or two that you know had this happen I could investigate further.

You indicated that this is happening on more than one workstation. Are the workstations configured the same? Is the hardware identical or are the components different.

Please give me some detail such as workstation configuration, Operating system information, AutoCAD version(s), add-ins installed, etc.

I am here to assist you and make sure that we can resolve this problem.

As has been reported on multiple threads concerning this very problem your assumption that a drawing is to blame is incorrect.  This error msg occurs for us without any drawing yet open, while AutoCAD is still opening.  It also occurs with nothing more than a blank, and I mean devoid of any objects, styles, etc. other than what came with the install open.  It happens with different drawings open, randomly and inconsistently.  In other words, this is NOT, repeat, NOT, a drawing issue.  It also happens on multiple operating systems, 7 Pro or 10 Pro, different motherboards, ASUS or Gigabyte, different video cards, NVidia or AMD, different chipsets, and differing amounts of RAM, 8gb to 32gb.  The only consistency is that it happens in ACAD 2016.  It has not happened on ACAD 2010 but that has been tested limitedly.

Hi,

>> The only consistency is that it happens in ACAD 2016

How about network/domain/permissions/polices/... also all different?

Hi @Anonymous,

I am here to help you. From your message I can tell you are frustrated and probably angry as well. I can sympathize but in order to resolve the issue I need to focus on some specifics. Obviously not all of our users experience this issue (as I do not either) so I need to be able to determine what is different in your environment than mine.

If we could focus on one or two workstations that seem to exhibit the problem more frequently that would be helpful.  If this is agreeable, please give me the specs on the two "worst offenders" as well as operating system and AutoCAD Version including service pack number.

Please also tell me what security software is running, the user permission level, type of network and server versions, and any other details you feel might be pertinent to the issue.

I would like to get this taken care of for you as quickly as possible.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for the specs of the workstation.

So Windows 10 with AutoCAD 2016 sp1? Any Object Enablers or Hotfixes?

How are users set up on their workstations? Local Admins?

Do you ever see the error if the workstation is not working on the network at all?  Do you have GP enabled and if so, what kinds of settings are you controlling?

SP 3 installed.

Network controlled, CAD admin (me) controlled.

GP off/on, all combinations of settings tested.

Without network connection the user cannot log in., only admin.

Error still occurs randomly, inconsistently.

Hi,

>> SP 3 installed.

For AutoCAD 2016 a SP3 does not exist.

Hi @Anonymous,

In order to test this we want to start with a clean configuration. The user should be set up as a local admin on their workstation which will allow them to logon without the network. I would like to see if when you have Service Pack 1 installed on their AutoCAD 2016, if the error can be duplicated locally.

I suggest also, running a diagnostic startup and disabling everything except hardware related items (Network card, audio, etc)

Turn off any other items such as GotoMeeting, Dropbox, etc

This can all be done using MSCONFIG at the Start>Run field

Let's do this on the one Windows 10 workstation (I assume it is the one you are on)

No help at all.  Although the original error has popped up only twice since I last posted I am now in a state of lag that is unacceptable, borderline unworkable.  This too, like the original issue is inconsistent throughout the office, occurs without Ethernet being plugged in and is very annoying to those experiencing it.

Hi Ron_M,

I am sorry to see that you are still experiencing problems on your workstations.Since this appears to be random and intermittent I can not offer further suggestions other than the ones I posted previously. I suggest that you carefully monitor your systems and identify when, why  and what might be causing the issues.  If I can get a bit more detail then I can help to define steps to alleviate the problem.

You can of course escalate the issue to technical support if you desire but again, since this is random and intermittent it will not likely produce an immediate fix for your situation.

Please start a new thread (post) as you are able to isolate where and how these problems occur so the community and I can continue to work towards a solution for you.
