AutoCAD DWG failing to share in Shared Design View (AutoCAD 2019)

SO, there's me.....trying to create a video to demonstrate the Shared Views new feature in AutoCAD 2019. The DWG file shares perfectly well. I log in to Autodesk Viewer. All OK so far. I then go to click on the link in Autodesk Viewer for my shared file. And I get the error message below. No actual error number...just 'processing failed'....oh, deep joy. I have now tried to log in to the Viewer three times and view the shared DWG. It failed (yep, you guessed right) three times. Anyone else out there have this issue?

Hi @cadfmconsultants,

I admit that I have seen this numerous times.  How complex was your file? I found that I was having problems with 3D files  but couldn't isolate the issue. If you have the current file that failed, i would love to get it to the team to see if they can investigate.

John,

Not a complex file at all. A 2D office plan no less. I use it as one of my go-to files for video online training content. File is attached, so let me know if the team find anything. Thanks in advance, SCB.

Hi @cadfmconsultants,

I appreciate the file that you provided. I have documented this issue for the team and I believe it will get some attention very shortly. Thanks for your patience.

John,

Just so that you are aware, I had to delete ALL other shared views that had failed before I shared another design view that worked. I appreciate the work you guys put in, but this really should have been working from the release date of AutoCAD 2019.

If it helps, I used the Autodesk Viewer with the Beta Pi Release Candidate (RC) version of AutoCAD 2019 and it worked fine, so if there were any changes from the RC version to the full release version, it could be worth checking.

Meanwhile, all working, so thanks very much!

SCB.

HI @cadfmconsultants,

It was working for me too even in full release. I believe an update on the backend caused this issue.  I am glad it is working now though and hope that it remains stable. I appreciate your patience.

I know the views I tried to upload were not processed properly so I will likely need to remove them as well.

I am having issues sharing views today. I can manually upload the drawings using the browser. But if I try to publish from AutoCAD 2019.1 (technically C3D 2019.1) it will fail. I deleted all current shared views, I logged out of my account within AutoCAD and am stuck. For now, I have to take a screenshot just to continue. The view does have an XREF, but that should not matter but maybe it does? See attached.

Thanks
Kevin

Thanks
Kevin

Hi @Kevin.Spear,

I have been away from the office for a couple weeks and I apologize for my delayed response.

I opened your files (in AutoCAD 2019) and ran AUDIT as both files had some corruption. Once they were cleaned up I created a new shared view and had no issues at all.  Here is a link

Hi @DWEN,

Can you share the drawing file that gives you this error message when you try to share it?  What is the file named? I am curious if there are any special characters that might be breaking this process.

Can you also do a screen capture of this error message? Does it show up in the browser?

Hi @DWEN,

Is this issue still happening?

Here are some things to check:

  • Run RECOVER or AUDIT on your drawings
  • If a specific Layout is the issue, check the applied pagesetup for and unusual plot size or plot area.

Additional troubleshooting steps:

  1. Run SHAREVIEW and publish current sheet, 2D-only, no properties
  2. Run SHAREVIEW and publish current sheet, 2D & 3D, no properties
  3. Run SHAREVIEW and publish current sheet, 2D-only, WITH properties and watch task manager for amount of RAM used. If it goes up over 12-15GB then that would likely cause AWS instance to die.
  4. Run SHAREVIEW and publish all sheets, then all sheets with properties
