AutoCAD - Data Extraction

So I am new to Data Extraction with the goal of editing attribute data with excel and ultimately importing that excel data back into my blocks.

I have a drawing with borders in the layout tabs. I want to extract the attributes in the borders into an excel spreadsheet...AutoCAD is telling me the border is not uniformly scaled and refusing to extract the data. However, the border is in fact uniformly scaled.  All I get is an excel file that says "delete me" and no data.

Can someone please help me? This is the first step into a bigger world of editing all block attribute data (lots of valve blocks) and I have to understand what I am doing wrong here.

Thank you in advance

Hi,

>>" the goal of editing attribute data with excel and ultimately importing that excel data back into my blocks."

This is not an option! Dataextraction tool is for Export ONLY, no way to re-import the datas into your blocks.

Use other tools.

Search for other 3rd. party tools to do that.

>>"I want to extract the attributes in the borders into an excel spreadsheet...AutoCAD is telling me the border is not uniformly scaled and refusing to extract the data."

That's not right, the message says "...uniformly scaled found.." (no word about your borders, or?)

Because of this news we know your setting about 'Extract nested data'

     In Dataextractions dialog page2, Settings....

You don't want to extract nested object data, so you should disable this option!

(inside your border block are non-uniformly scaled blockreferences)

>>"All I get is an excel file that says "delete me" and no data."

Sounds like you deselect the the BorderNoresco Block from the list of objects to export!?

Check your settings on page2

(you forgot to attach your .DXE file, we can not check your settings without this file / or screenshots)

or

You have a special char in your path, an Apostrophes ?

or

Your OS is not up2date, please share screenshot of ABOUT dialog

Hi Thomas,

I am sorry to tell you - I forgot -> there is a super stupid bug in Acad (I call it bug).

If you disable the option to export nested objects from blocks,

all the blocks what are insserted in paperspace only are not listed for export.

(Everyone should send a productfeedback about this, perhaps it will be fixed in 2055)

Because of this: Don't disable this option, but disable all the listed objects on page2 except your Block bordernoresco.
