AutoCAD - Converting a drawing to all 3d objects

Hello!! I am very new to CAD and I am working on a project. An engineer friend of mine drew me a design to 3d print. I now know Acad is not the best option for 3d printing; however, it can be done. The issue I am running into is he used 2d objects and 3d objects to draw the design. Therefore, when I go to export it as an .stl some of the object is getting left behind. I have been trying to convert the object to all 3d shapes, but I am struggling. Does anyone have any insight that may help me? Thank you

First course of action would be to ask your friend to provide you with a revised drawing containing only 3D objects.

Second course of action (since you didn't provide us a drawing) is to examine each 2D object being left behind and determine what the object is missing, keeping it from becoming a printable 3D object.

3D printing requires a CAD model that is 3D!  That is part of the reason that a solid object is required in AutoCAD to create an stl file. A 2D closed polyline  or reqion defines an infinitessemally thick object.  Something impossible to fabricate in  the real world.

Your fix may me as simple as using extrude or push/pull to make the 2D shapes 3D and solid.
