AutoCAD cancels commands by itself

We have this strange situation here. Working in AutoCAD German, when starting a command, Autocad cancels the command by itself. No crash, no explanation, just cancel (in German: Abbruch).

For example: line, first point selected. When selecting second point: Abbruch. Like if we hit ESC.

We tried hardware accelleration off without result.I searched the internet for this, without result

Any thoughts on this one?

Hi,

@gbG5A5W

>> Any thoughts on this one?

  • If you change your keyboard with another one, any changes?
  • Disable all add-ins/plugins.

@imadHabash Thanks for your response. I don't know how the keyboard would change this. It happens during the command, without keyboard input. Like drawing a rectangle. Placing the first point works, before you are able to click the second point the command cancels.

We use no add-ins/plugins

Sometimes a stuck keyboard key may cause such a problem. Therefore, I made this suggestion so that we can narrow down the real possibilities that caused it.

@gbG5A5W hi,

to add to @imadHabash , try to restart the system and if it does not solves the issue, if you are using some shortcuts try to invoke commands by preceding point...

like .Rectangle then tell us if something helped.

Restarting the system doesn't solve the problem. Keyboard entry doesn't either. It happans on either typed or button-started commands and combinations of both.

@gbG5A5W ,

On what version are we talking?

Can you install the version below \ above just to see if the issue still there and if Not save of your setting and uninstall \ reinstall AutoCAD.

if the issue is still there, then the issue is in your OS

We are talking about AutoCAD 2026 with all possible updates installed, including German Language packages. It's installed at two different PC's (office and home). Same system at home gives no problems, system at the office does. Sounds like we have to seek the answer in the OS?

@gbG5A5W We all use 2026, so that's not it. It's something local to you. What did your IT think? Bring your home computer in for them to explore it too.

Since you have not done it yet, replace your keyboard and your mouse, preferably both wired and different from what you are using, and try to repeat the problem (restart your PC after the switch).

Commands cancelling while in use is an indication <enter> is being triggered: could be a mouse button, could be a sticky keyboard button: you are reporting a ghost action only observed in hardware issues so far (since you claim not add-ins or 3rd party software).

I thought about a keyboard or mouseproblem too. But since, after a restart, it takes 30-60 minutes before the problem occurs again, that's doubtful. However, we've changed the mouse and keyboard. It didn't solve the problem. Since IT is third party for us, I tried to find the problem with your help first. But I think it's time to give them a call.

Thank you all for your input and help so far.
