Hi,
>> Is AutoCAD Architecture compatible with AutoCAD?
AutoCAD Architecture IS AutoCAD + an embedded module for architectural parts.
>> Can you do 2D and 3D on AutoCAD Architecture?
Yes
>> Can you use AutoCAD Architecture for the floor plans of a house
>> then transfer it to AutoCAD to do 2D and 3D?
In principle nothing is to transfer, you can save the file in AutoCAD Architecture and open it in AutoCAD.
The important thing on that workflow is that AutoCAD Architecture knows more objects then plain (Vanilla) AutoCAD. Objects like walls, doors, windows, roofs and some more parts can be easily created with AutoCAD Architecture.
- When you open such a file in AutoCAD Architecture you can select e.g. the door and change it's width, it's height, ... and the object will update it's complete display + the hole in the wall will also update to the new size automatically, dimensions will update automatically...
- When you open such a file in Vanilla AutoCAD you see all the objects, but you can't edit then. Selecting a door does not give you the option to change it's size.
So when you started a drawing with AutoCAD Architecture you should stay in that product as long as you modify geometry. But you can send this dwg to someone who is using plain AutoCAD, he will be able to open, to add objects (like furniture, electrics, ...) and will be able to plot it (only the Architecture based objects are like read-only).
