AutoCAD 2025 unable to add words to custom dictionary.

Has anyone else had the issue where you are "unable to add word" to your custom dictionary during the "spell check" command? I have tried re-linking the file in the "options>Files" menu, I've removed and re-added the .cus file via the "Check Spelling" dialogue box, and I've even performed a complete reinstall of AutoCAD. But no luck so far. Thanks

Hello!  I found the following on Google.  Note: This was AI generated, so...  Is this like what you have already tried?

If you are unable to add words to a custom dictionary in AutoCAD 2025, the current custom dictionary may not be set correctly. You can try the following steps to fix this:

  1. In the Dictionaries dialog, click the Manage Custom Dictionaries drop-down
  2. Click Add
  3. Select a sample dictionary and click Open
  4. Click Close in the Manage Custom Dictionaries dialog
  5. Click Close, then click Start in the Check Spelling dialog
  6. The Add to Dictionary button should now be active

You can also change dictionaries by specifying the dictionary name in the DCTMAIN or DCTCUST system variable.

I did see the same AI suggestion in my google search as well. However, I must have missed the DCTMAIN & DCTCUS variables. That seems to have corrected my problem. Many thanks.

No, if you try to add an unknown new word (auto-redlined) through the context menu "Add to dictionary", it doesn't work, the word is not added.
