AutoCAD 2025 layer dialog box opens and remains open when first launching AutoCAD

When launching AutoCAD 2025 by opening a drawing (DWG) file, now the layer dialog box opens and remains open. I have the settings saved to auto-hide all tool dialog boxes, including layers. End up having to click twice on the auto-hide before it hides. Didn't happen on any previous versions of AutoCAD and only happens when launching AutoCAD from MS file explorer on a DWG file.

Is this a known bug?

Since you are launching from File Explorer, do you know if it's launching "AutoCAD DWG Launcher" or using "AutoCAD"?

If you are using DWG launcher, try changing it to AutoCAD and see if it makes a difference.

Also... is your LAYER palette docked or floating?
And do you have the 2025.1 update installed? ABOUT command inside the program will confirm if you do or not.

My default is opening with "AutoCAD Application". When I change to "AutoCAD DWG Launcher", same response.

I have layers, tool palettes, xref and properties dialog boxes floating on a second monitor.

V.72.0.0 AutoCAD 2025.0.1

Been using AutoCAD since before R14 Windows and never had problems like this.

I will try updating to the latest patch and retest.

That has no impact on your issue at all, and they are not related. Sorry.

Remember to restart your PC after the update installation, whether you PC asks for it or not.

Do you have something like an acaddoc.lsp file that includes a Layer command?

I don't have the program configured to autoload any lsp routines.

But doing a quick search, there is a "acad2024doc.lsp" file that was installed with the 2025 installation process.

But no layer command in that file.

Some one was having a similar problem in this thread: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-forum/blocks-pallet-won-t-autohide/td-p/9664450

They turned off dynamic input and then used the ribbon close and it worked (at least for the OP)

Updated to V.116.0.0 AutoCAD 2025.1.

Rebooted my desktop and tested - same problem.

Need to check other settings, but everything otherwise is the same on this specific computer from AutoCAD 2016 'til now.

Have some other quirks that I need to start separate threads on,

The upgrade to the latest version solved the problem.
