AutoCAD 2024 Count Command Limitations

Hey All, long time lurker, first time posting.

I am struggling to use the new count command (AutoCAD 2024) and wondered if anyone could recommend a solution.

I have intentionally stacked conveyors on top of each other (they are on different layers). When I run the count command, it shows these overlapping sections as "errors" and removes them from the count. (Displays 54, rather then the true 57.)

If I insert a count table, it includes the "corrected" value (54), not the true value (57).

I have tried setting the count check variable to 0, but AutoCAD won't let me. Is there any way to turn off or dismiss the error checking?

Thanks!

No, it cannot be turned off AFAIK.

Is there another way to bypass the correction to get accurate counts?

One thought-

When I first use the count command, there is a brief instance where the count is displayed correctly before the error checking kicks in. It seems like there should be a way to stop the process there, before the correction is calculated.

Another thought -

After creating the table, I am able to edit the fields - is there a field option for an un-altered count? Or is there a field that counts the "errors" per each block?

I guess that I am just frustrated that the automatic error checking could make a powerful new feature worthless for my use case.

My ultimate goal is to quickly create accurate BOMs. Can you think of better ways to do this?

I am unaware of a way to avoid the overlap issue, except to not overlap them: find a small enough variation that the command will ignore if an option?

You can suggest fixes to Autodesk where they look for them here https://www.autodesk.com/company/contact-us/product-feedback

For BOM in AutoCAD, the other solution is https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Creating-a-Bill-of...

Thanks pendean!

I have suggest a fix to autodesk, no response yet.

Good tip on using data extraction for the BOM - I had messed with inserting a table from a data extraction, but was missing the information that DXEVAL needs to be set to 32 to recalculate when saving.

I was still hoping that someone would chime in on fields - Is there an option with fields to display the original count (regardless of errors) or the error count so I could back count?

While the detailed list will be quite helpful for a full BOM, a quick count would still be helpful for communicating with our sales team. (Ex - the primary cost for a conveyor is the motor, so quickly telling them that there are 12 conveyors is more relevant up front that giving them a table.)

eg. I want the table on the left to show the 12 count, not the 9.
