AUTOCAD 2022 MULTI-PAGE PUBLISH ISSUES

I have been having this issue just recently. When I "publish" multiple tabs on a drawing to my office printer, the print job never completes. This has been going on for about 3 weeks. Every time I end up reinstalling and it fixes the issue short term, then after a few days the issue resumes.

Does anyone else have this issue? And I was wondering if anyone has any way to fix this more permanently and without having to reinstall?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.  Do you mean that you need to reinstall AutoCAD?  Can you tell us what kind of printer you are sending these jobs to, and if the print drivers are u to date?  Is this a local printer or network?  Thanks in advance for any more information you can share.

What else have you tried to date (other than reinstalling)?

What are you PUBLISHing to (PDF, local printer, DWF, local plotter, something else)?
Is background publishing turned off yet?

Have you installed the 2022.1.5 Update yet? ABOUT command in your AutoCAD will confirm what you have installed. If not, get it from your Autodesk Account Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates
Restart your PC afterwards please.

Thank you @CGBenner  I have been reinstalling Autocad as a seemingly short-term solution to the problem, as it seems after a few days after the fresh install the issue comes back. The printer is a network Sharp printer, not sure the model, but we have only had it ~a year so its relatively new. The drivers are up to date. I can plot single sheets without any issue, it only happens with multi-page publish jobs. And this happens on files that are not new that had worked just fine the day previously.

Thank you for the reply,

I have tried creating new Page setups, and then the obvious: restarting Autocad as well as my computer, trying a different file to see if it is file specific.

Publishing to network printer, drivers up to date, relatively new printer (purchased 2023/24 not sure exact date.)

I have not tried turning off background publishing. I will try this immediately the next time I encounter the issue.

Product Version: S.191.0.0 AutoCAD 2022.1.5   I will note that I had only encountered this issue after installing this update as it has been relatively a recent problem.

Hello.  I hope you're well.  Have you run into this issue again and tested the advice from @pendean? (hopefully you will not need to!)

@CGBenner @pendean Yes thank you both. It seems that turning off publish in background seems to have solved the issue. I changed that setting after I began having issues and it has fixed it.

Thanks a bunch for the help

Ive solved this temporarily by turning off multiple processor publishing. Background publishing is much slower than before as only one core is being used. I think its a only a temp workaround that autocad should fix - bring back background publishing and multiple core publishing.

Hello @striderNL8HW - How does one turn off multiple processor publishing?

I wonder if that will help with another SSM plotting issue that we are having:

Should be in the bios

https://www.bios-mods.com/bios-settings-glossary/2014/07/core-multi-processing/#:~:text=This%20setti....

per AI:

To turn off multiple processor publishing, you'll need to access your computer's BIOS/UEFI settings and disable the core configuration settings, which can be found under CPU Configuration or Processor Settings.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Access BIOS/UEFI:
Restart your computer and repeatedly press the designated key (usually Del, F2, or Esc) during startup to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup.
  • Find Core Configuration Settings:
Navigate to the CPU Configuration or Processor Settings section within the BIOS/UEFI.
  • Disable E-Cores or Multiple Core Processing:
Locate the option to disable E-cores or multiple core processing and set it to "disabled" or similar.
  • Save and Exit:
Save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI setup, and your computer will reboot with the setting applied.

Thanks for this @paullimapa - This seems like a challenging solution to deploy to a team. Also at what cost? By disabling multiple core processing I assume people will experience a general computing performance penalty. It's unfortunate that Autodesk cannot provide a fix to this issue that doesn't require these steps and potential sacrifices. Thanks anyway. We will try to play around with this.

Hi Crass I was able to turn off the option within autocad itself rather than that bios method suggested by Auocad. Use BGCOREPUBLISH and set to 0.
