Hello Everyone,

The AutoCAD Team has come out with a GSF Update for AutoCAD 2022 and the Specialized Toolsets. This is a new update to the 3D Graphics Technical Preview for AutoCAD 2022 and AutoCAD 2022-based products and specialized toolsets. This update contains both bug fixes and functionality improvements. Please check out the full AKN Article for more information and the download of the update.

We would love to hear your feedback on this update once you have implemented it, so please respond to this thread with your insights!

Note: This update should be applied to AutoCAD builds after AutoCAD 2022.0.1 Update has been installed.

Best,

Tiana.D

Hi Tiana,
Please excuse my ignorance, but what is "GSF"? And what is "3D Graphics Technical Preview"? I went to your link but cannot figure out what these things are.

Hi Dave,

GSF is a completely new cross platform 3D graphics system being developed for AutoCAD, leveraging all the power of modern GPUs and multi-core CPU to offer a smooth navigation experience for much larger drawings then in prior releases.  Please refer to What's New in 2022 in AutoCAD Help page for detail info.

A quick note on how to use GSF, set _3DTECHPREVIEW sysvar to On, exit and restart AutoCAD, then set _VSCURRENT to Shaded visual style.

Thanks,

KB

Does this only affect the Shaded Visual Style, or all Visual Styles?

Currently, only Shaded visual style is supported.  It will be expanded to other visual styles gradually in the near future.

Thanks,

When I turn GSF on, I can't OSNAP the points on 3D solid model such as a box.

Currently the edges on 3D solid model haven't been enabled in Shaded (GSF) visual style yet.  Once the edges are enabled, OSNAP will work.

Thanks,

How soon will it take to enable the edges? We have develop a 3d solid software based on AutoCAD. We think GSF is really a good feature if it can OSNAP.

While we don't have a date for Shaded with Edges, we will be looking at the OSNAP issues soon.

Hello Tiana,

When I install AutoCAD 2022, turn 3DTECHPREVIEW ON, restart AutoCAD and swith to shaded I can't do anything in the modelspace, my cursor disappears.

I installed the AutoCAD_2022.0.1_Update, but the result is the same.

Then, I installed autocad_2022_gsf_update, afterwards AutoCAD during programstart.

Is there any solution for my problem? Cause this new feature could be very helpful and interesting.

Hi there,

It's early days as yet, but I upgraded to 2022 in the last week.  A couple of comment for now:

(Product Version: S.113.0.0 AutoCAD 2022.1)
Favourites missing from Open File dialog
Multiple layers - when change something (e.g. colour), selection reverts to single layer

I'll continue to add to my list.

Thanks,

Paul Haydon.

Update: I installed AutoCAD 2022 on another computer and GSF works.
Has it something to do with the GPU? I'm using a NVIDIA Quadro P2000.

Hi Joachim,

Could you try to install the latest video driver on another machine and see whether the issue you had earlier is still happening?

Thanks,
KB

Interesting to see how this will pan out....

I have done a screencast of my playing with it for the first time, very mixed results.

It went from not working at all to panning and zooming very efficiently. I haven't done much else with it.

I would like to know if this may affect the use of viewbase in the future if it is a new graphics system?

Hi Craig,

Thank you so much for trying the new graphics system. There is much work to do still and we've come a long way since what was shipped in AutoCAD 2022. Would you like to try an Alpha of AutoCAD 2023? I can look into the process for that if you are interested.

Thanks,

Jorge
