Autocad 2021 Creates a Large amount of system files in TEMP 12.6GB _XCOMPAREBAKCLEAN

This is a real strange one, so strap yourself in..

We recently rolled everyone to Autocad 2021 from 2019 and everything was running smoothly until. However all of a sudden all of Citrix users ran out of space and crashed. This was due to their profiles been bloated with 12.6GB of autocad temp files per user..

These files are only created when the users closes Autocad for the first time.. The files are stored in the "Temporary Drawing Folder" location set in options.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing all these files to show up? seems like an autocad bug to me..

there is a SCR file called "atmp73a632ba.scr" that simple has one command in it "_XCOMPAREBAKCLEAN"

then a folder called "5E777583E67F7839" in here is typically three folders

Local
Roaming
Temp

Within the Local and Roaming folders seems to be a bunch of DLL's and autocad system files.. will post some screen shots later (image upload broken right now)

XCOMPAREBAKCLEAN command description:
Cleans up old backup files of the Xref Compare command (undocumented)

Sounds like you need to turn off new 2021 features you all don't want to use from the new 2021 list of "what's new" features.

Interesting. I am thinking you use XREFs for most projects. I have found the new xref compare tool to be very helpful. With anything Citrix, we first have to see what happens on a clean install with no network, which I have.  I do not get any temp folder bloat. I then tried our virtual machines on Frame. I did not get bloat there. 

My guess is citrix is not happy with how AutoCAD is "loading" the XREF in the compare tool. Have you checked various temp settings in Citrix?

@Kevin.Spear and @pendean  it might not even be particularly related to XCOMPAREBAKCLEAN.. it just something i noticed in all the temp folders..

NEW INFO.. i have noticed this happening on our local machines as well so i dont think its ctirix specific...

Wow. So temp bloat on local machines. Does that happen with a default profile as well?

@Kevin.Spear well its not in there until autocad is run once and closed for the first time.. its right on that first close of autocad it seems to throw all this stuff in temp... its so strange...

To make matters more confusing once its deleted it never recreates itself again...

I found too a lot of these bloated folders even nested like this.

XCOMPAREBAKCLEAN did not get rid of them.

Any new revelations with this issue?  We started seeing this after testing a 2021 deployment on a few machines.  Everyone in the testing team is now experiencing this randomly with both 2021 and our existing 2016 installations.  Also occurring in the 5E777... folder.  I've hit a wall, any help would be appreciated.

@bhackett @JTBWorld still happening for us on update2 for civil 3d 2021... no idea...

5E777583E67F7839 is the name of the folder always... @doug_cummings  did we ever get a resolution to this one?

Have you tried to disable xcompare with "XCOMPAREENABLE" set to 0 ?

Okay, if you do not use "XCOMPAREBAKCLEAN" (XCompare) we can disable  the command, then AcCoreConsole is not called on exit.
