Hello,

in previous versions of AutoCAD you could insert or bind an excisting Xref in to the DWG or DWT-file, but now i'm working with version 2020 and i can't find this command.

does someone know how i can insert / bind an exsting xref in the DWG of DWT.

Thanks for your help.

Greetings, Joop

Hi,

>> but now i'm working with version 2020 and i can't find this command

Start command _XREF to get the XRef Manager opened, right-click the XRef ==> bind

Hi,

Is it that you are not able to see the bind type option on the screen after click on bind? If that's the case after clicking on bind press Alt+spacebar and press "M" and then left/right arrow key. Now move your mouse to see the dialog box.

Hi,

>> i don't have the option to select BIND

Then

  • the XRef you are selecting is not referenced to your dwg, but to another XRef
  • or it's not a DWG-file (PDF, PNG, ..) ... can you please show a screenshot from this dialog/referenced file?

You cannot bind JPG files in any version of AutOCAD, previous or new, unless you used to use a 3rd party add-in or tool.

You can't "bind" an image into a dwg using "stock" tools (AFAIK), but you can "embed" it: see the link below for a video tutorial

Works well for me..hope this does what you need
