AutoCad 2019 crashing and computer seizing

Hi AutoCad community,

I am a student and use the free student version of AutoCad 2019. However I have problems with the software from 2018 and 2019. Last year I installed AutoCad 2018 and it worked fine for a few months. Then suddenly the program crashes randomly while performing numerous tasks. So before downloading this year’s edition I performed a clean install with completely removing AutoCad of my laptop and reinstalling it afterwards. But still it keeps crashing and seizing my laptop. I have a one year old HP power pavilion with an i7-7700 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 4gb graphics card and 8 GB RAM. I already have updated AutoCad and the Graphics card with the latest updates. Which on the graphics card was also a clean install. But yet I still have the same problems. So far I got the error codes: C3C7F0D7h, 60A8F0D7h and at last 4DD6551Fh. But I can't find what these error codes are. So if anyone know how I can fix the problems or at least can tell me if they are software or hardware problem. Because I now can't use AutoCad.

Thank you in advance,

Yours,

Paul

Hi @p.honing

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

The numbers you list appear to be the memory addresses and not he actual error numbers.  Please prepare a NFO file for me to examine and if you can capture the full error messages that will help to determine what might be occurring on your system.

If this is happening in specific files, I would like to see those as well.

If your data needs to be private or confidential, please email it directly to me at john.vellek@autodesk.com and please include a link to this thread in your email.

Hi @john.vellek

I thank you for replying on my question. I want to create the NFO file that you need tot examine my problem. I understand how I can save the file but my question is do you need for example just one folder or all the folders to examine if the problem is somewhere else? Related to this topic is do you only need the AutoCad 2019 folder or more? I however can't caputure a error report because my laptop seezes before I can save anything. Also is happends in all the files I create or have.

Yours,

P. Honing

Hi @p.honing,

Let's start by getting the NFO to me so I can take a look.  Follow the instructions in this article to create it and then ship it to me.

Hi @p.honing,

Thank you for emailing me the NFO and a sample file.  The drawing file looks fine to me and showed no errors.

The NFO did show a few things:

  • Temporarily disabled your 3rd party security software which allowed you to complete some updates such as Recap
  • Graphics drivers were old.
  • I suggested that you check for all Windows updates and that you verify that AutoCAD was updated to 2019.1.2

Please let me know if this resolved the crashing.

Hi @john.vellek,

I did exactly what you said. My laptop is now running all the latest updates and drivers. I discovered after you mentioned that my anti-virus blocked certain programs, but it blocks a whole lot more than that it is supposed to do. Can you maybe recommend an other anti-virus than Panda Global Protection or McFee. But back to the problem, it is now solved eventually. I want to express my never ending gratitude for that. The main problem that I could find was the driver on the graphic's card that delivered most of the problems.

Thank you very much

Yours,

P. Honing

Hi @p.honing,

I am glad things are now working for your you.

I can't recommend a security package for you as it has been a while since I was an IT person and I would hate to suggest something that did not work optimally for you.  Your current application might work just fine if you have the option to configure some exceptions in  it.

If you look for a new one I suggest checking some of the review sites online (such as this one) to see if there are some that meet your needs and price point.
