AutoCAD 2018 How to project lines from a globe to a geodesic sphere?

I want to transfer the lines of a world globe to a geodesic 4v sphere. I have been able to create the sphere and get the world globe around it but I'm struggling of thinking how I could get the lines onto the panels of the sphere.

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

My first idea is to use the PROJECTGEOMETRY command on the lines. I am guessing you might need to SLICE them into a few parts first. I will give this a try on my side. Can you do the same and let me know your results?

[EDIT] As I look at your geodesic sphere, I find that there are duplicate regions for each facet.  Ideally, your regions should be surfaces or a solid to project onto.

I went through and tried to delete the duplicates. I then used Union to create a single mesh.  Once this was done I used PROJECTGEOMETRY to project the map, lat and long lines and political boundaries onto the geo-sphere.

I deleted the original regions from the file.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused and fairly amateur to AutoCAD. I'm confused by what you mean where there are doubles. Also, when I look at the edits you had, some of the lines look a bit out of place.

Also my final objective of this is to lay each little triangle flat with the lines on them so i can eventually laser cut onto wood and and eventually build it in real life.

I apologize for my delayed response.

You have regions sitting on top of other regions. If you try to select crossing over one of the triangles you will see that you have more than one.

The ProjectGeometry is really the only editing I performed on the file other than to remove duplicates. So, I can't really explain any linework that you feel  is not in the right location.

So, I guess if I started over, I would still do the initial cleanup to get single regions. Then I would convert to surfaces rather than to a solid as I think this might help you "unfold" the final work.

Have you taken the time to play with the drawing file I attached? I exploded the sphere and then started to pull the geometry apart triangle by triangle. This is proving to be a very laborious tack.  Once I separate the triangles I use ALIGN to get them all in the same plane (along with the projected geometry on each. If this is something worth pursuing you might label each triangle so you can keep track of their position.
