AutoCAD 2018 font issue

we recently installed AutoCAD 2018 in the office and noticed that one of our templates has issues relating to the font. in the offic we have one computer that operates AutoCAD 2016 and there is no issue with our template however any newer version distorts the fonts. i have attached 2 images to highlight the differences between the two templates. as you can see in the 2018 version, the text is a different thickness and is wider.

any help would be appreciated.

From the images you show, this looks as if the font is not being found or is damaged in some way.  Can you share a sample drawing and any special font(s) that are being utilized in the file?

Can you also please tell me your exact AutoCAD version by typing ABOUT at the command line?

I am checking back to see if you have been able to resolve your font issue.  If not, please send em a sample drawing file and the fonts that are being utilized so I can take a look at this problem.

The version of AutoCAD I am using is O.49.0.0 AutoCAD 2018

Auto-cad is not finding your fonts so its using a default as a filler. You need to go into your C drive and find your font folder if the font is not there you need to put it in the folder and open the file and install it then restart the computer and Acad should pick it up. If the font is there then reload it then restart. the only other thing is your new autocad is not looking in the right folder for fonts cause the path need to be fixed

Hi @Anonymous,

Please open your Text Styles and verify that each of your styles can find the font that has been assigned.

You will see a little yellow warning symbol for those that are missing.

Is there anywhere a place where I can find all available fonts in AutoCAD 2020?

I saw there is a list in Text Style window but I cannot seve it or export.

There are many websites that provide free downloadable fonts. Try to search them on Google search with search term: “true type font download” OR “shx font download”. also you can follow this video tutorial >> Click <<

You can open your Windows Explorer and go to this folder:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2020\Fonts

There you can find all SHX fonts that are installed with AutoCAD 2020

To find TrueTypeFonts (which can also be used with AutoCAD) please look to this folder:

C:\Windows\Fonts

Hi,

I have selected these 3 characters inside the MTEXT, then used <CTRL><C> to copy, opened MS-Word and used <CTRL><V> to paste these characters into word.

Then selected the characters in MS-Word and got this font displayed:

• Cambria Math

Starting with 2018(?), ACAD stop to search shx fonts, if the "Support File Search Path"s contine sub-directory of the Fonts, before the Fonts, its mask all the fonts in the parent directory.

Don't use:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2021\Fonts\MyFonts
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2021\Fonts

Use:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2021\Fonts

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2021\Fonts\MyFonts
