AutoCAD 2018 fatal error when starting 'first' drawing as 2017. Selection prob.

Hello everybody,

I have a brand new computer with first instal of several AutoCAD Products.

I have both 'AutoCAD2018' and 'Civil3D 2018' installed (any a few others).

But i have a few weird problems...

FOR AUTOCAD2018:

When i start up AutoCAD2018 and see my StartMode screen,

When i select any 2017 DWG as 'first' drawing since i started AutoCAD, i get a instant fatal error.

FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0xffffffff Exception at c200af47h.

When i first open a 2018 template, then i can open any 2017 DWG file.

But, all selections that i make makes my AutoCAD freeze / very slow.

BUT.

When i run Civil3D as AutoCAD, i dont have any problem at all.... i can just open all files and it works like it should work.

I run on a brand new windows 2010 installment, without any past instalations of AutoCAD products.

Any suggestions?

The template i send you is an original AutoCAD 2D template, wich has been modified.

So it should not include any Civil3D elements, since we have a seperate template for Civil3D drawings.

all my collegues are working with the template i posted above every day without any problems in Plain AutoCAD 2017

Do you have other "third-party" software running in Civil3D ?

Nothing,

Just plain installment of AutoCAD and Civil3D

Very strange.

Like you said, if you open another drawing first, no problem to open this one.

I did an audit on the drawing and found 2 errors.

After saving the audited drawing (2013 format) and re-opening same problem!

Im glad you got the exact same issue as i have.

Atleast i now know it is not a installment problem.

Hi,

I do have AutoCAD 2018, Map 3D 2018 as well as Civil 3D 2108 installed ... AutoCAD 2018 can open that file without issues, I get the warning about AEC-update and the warning about proxies as I have PROXYNOTICE set to 1.

But if I remember correct ... I have uninstalled the Civil 3D object enabler (which comes automatically with Civil 3D). Did you first install AutoCAD then Civil 3D or first Civil 3D then AutoCAD? Can you try to uninstall the C3D-object enabler?

We did some more testing.

The issue seems to happen when you first install Civil3D 2018 and then AutoCAD 2018.

Installation order needs to be first AutoCAD 2018 and then Civil2018, else it'll fatal error.

Hi,

>> i cannot exchange objectes from Civil3D to Navisworks anymore

Means what? Which functions do you use to "exchange objects" and what messages/errors/information/... do you get?

We have two workstations now:

One with:

- AutoCAD 2018

- Civil3D 2018

- Naviworks 2018

- NO objectenabler.

This workstation runs very stable, but when we have made a 'Pipe Network' with Civil3D, and Append that DWG to Navisworks, all data is not shows properly. (All regular lines on Z=0).

And One with:

- AutoCAD 2018

- Civil3D 2018

- Naviworks 2018

- Objectenabler.

This workstation DOES show all data from the PipeNetwork of Civil3D... But the AutoCAD runs like sh*t again, like my first post in this topic.

It seems like the 'Object Enabler' is required for a smooth exchange between Civil3D and Navisworks.

But it gives problems in regular AutoCAD (Like my first posts show...).

I find it hard to beleave im the first and only one who experiences this problem?

The full 2017 install ran without any problems...
