AutoCAD 2017 Paste Option Greyed Out

AutoCAD 2017

I have an engineer that can't paste with right click, it's greyed out, but control+v works perfectly fine every time. It's just Mtext with a circle around it. Any ideas are well appreciated, thanks.

an idea:

check their system variables against yours?  SETVAR is the command to call, you can get a list of every system variable then compare them between machines and find what is different, then change it.  I've never heard of this issue, but it definitely sounds like it is a setting.

I find this behavior very often as well.  Is the engineer using the right-click menu with Clipboard flyout?

I'd be happy to see if anyone has any advice on this one as well.

I use the software with defaults due to students installing at home.  Not sure which variables might affect this behavior as it has occurred inside ACAD as well as when pasting from outside of ACAD.

I compared his variables to mine and I found discrepencies, then changed his variables to match mine. Still didn't fix the issue though.

What method was used for the Copy?  If they used the right mouse button, the copy selection is not the one you want, must pick Clipboard in that menu, and then copy under that.

Always save a copy of the drawing before trying anything suggested here.

I saw him use the copy under clipboard. It's weird. He saved and closed his dwg and reopened. Then it worked. He was able to copy and paste after restarting the dwg. Though it resolved the issue, I still have no understanding of what caused it or how to fix it without restarting.

A rare and unfortunate event.

Same thing happened to me. Happens to me once in a great while. Not sure why AutoCAD does it, just glad to know that I'm not the only person that it happens too.

Make sure that the "Paste" option is not disabled in the AutoCAD options. Go to "Options" -> "System" and check if the "Allow Copying And Pasting Of Formatting" option is enabled.

Hi - the paste options are greyed out when you use copy from clipboard within the same drawing - you only get all the paste options when copying between different drawings. in this case, typing the command pasteblock will still let you paste the data in albeit you then have to explode it. I actually prefer to paste as a block sometimes as you can have a bit more control over the pasted in data before you commit to it
